1. PRE-DRILL ASSESSMENT

  1. Evacuation routes posted.
  2. Evacuation signs are in good condition.
  3. Exits are marked.
  4. Exit signs are properly illuminated.
  5. Exit doors operating properly.
  6. Egress routes are free of obstructions.
  7. Egress routes are properly lighted.

2. COMMUNICATION

3. FIRE CONTAINMENT

  1. Doors and windows are closed.
  2. Rooms are checked before closing doors.
  3. Doors are left unlocked.
  4. Fire Extinguisher (FE) taken to the location
  5. Fire door hold-open devices (Mechanical or manual) operated appropriately.
  6. Electro-magnetic locks operated appropriately.
  7. Public Address (PAS) System (PAS) is heard in all areas of the facility.

4. EVACUATION

  1. All occupants participated and evacuated Restrooms were checked for occupants.      
  2. An evacuation was orderly.  
  3. Visitors were escorted and accounted for. 
  4. Special needs persons are accommodated. 
  5. Elevators were used during the evacuation. 
  6. The overall response of occupants.
  7. Satisfactory   Unsatisfactory.
  8. Noise level of evacuation.
  9. Satisfactory   Unsatisfactory.
  10. The number of occupants evacuated.

5. UTILITIES

  1. Electrical appliances were turned off.
  2. Lights were turned off
  3. HVAC units were shut down

6. PLAN

  1. Evacuation performed according to plan   
  2. Occupants/tenants met/ gathered at pre-assigned meeting places as per the evacuation the plan
  3. Designated meeting place(s) located at safe distances from the building
  4. Fire drill/incident response team(s) accomplished assigned duties essentially and appropriately
  5. Fire department “mock” notified as per the plan

7. FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS

  1. Fire alarm heard in all areas monitoring company received the alarm
  2. The number of occupants evacuated.

8. EVACUATION DRILL OBJECTIVES FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY 

  1. Assess the effectiveness of the occupants’ abilities to evacuate a building
  2. Assess the effectiveness of the fire emergency evacuation plan
  3. Assess the occupants’ capability to perceive the fire emergency evacuation alarm
  4. Conclude whether the occupant adopts and follows essential actions upon hearing the fire alarm
  5. Decide that the occupant acceptably starts the evacuation system and/or per plan
  6. Assess the occupant’s ability to provide help to site visitors or folks who are experiencing trouble
  7. Assess the occupant’s capability to know and take proper and essential actions when a means of egress is not safe and secure to use
  8. Make sure that the occupants report in at designated Assembly meeting places

9. DRILL TIMES

Emergency fire Drill must be carried out randomly and under different kinds of circumstances to fabricate and assume the unusual conditions/fire emergency incidents that occur in case of fire

10. RETAIN OF RECORD 

The following information is needed to be collected during fire evacuation drills as per the International Fire Code:

  1. Proper Identification of the person carrying out the drill

  4. The record for the Staff members on duty and the personnel who participated
  5. Total Number of occupants who were evacuated in an emergency
  6. Special conditions simulated
  7. Problems encountered
  8. Time required to accomplish the complete evacuation
