METHODOLOGY/METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR THE TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF DIESEL GENERATORS

The aim of this Methododology Statement "Methodology/Method of Statement for the Testing and Commissioning of Diesel Generators" is to explain the details regarding the testing and Commissioning of Diesel Generators

Scope

To define the Method of Testing for 3512 developing 1200kW / 1500kVA at 400V, 50Hz, 3P, 0.8PF, Diesel Generator Sets/Panel.

Purpose

This methodology document applies to 3512 developing 1200kW / 1500kVA at 400V, 50Hz, 3P, 0.8PF, Diesel Generator Sets with set mounted local control panel, purpose of this method statement is to ensure correct and agreed procedures are implemented during testing and commissioning of generators to ensure the correct operation of generators as per client requirements.

GENERATOR SET START-UP AND COMMISSIONING

  1. Ensure the above inspection checking is performed.
  2. Make sure the generator breaker is “SWITCH OFF”
  3. Make sure the Genset surroundings are safe and no unauthorized person is standing next to generator Sets.
  4. Now Connect the Generator Set battery with Generator.
  5. Then “SWITCH ON” the Generator Set Mounted Control Panel.
  6. Now proceed and Start the Genset from Diesel Generator mounted control panel in “MANUAL MODE”
  7. Once the generator is started check and set the RPM & voltage to rated values.
  8. “SWITCH ON” the Generator Circuit Breaker if the load is connected.
  9. Increase the load gradually as per the Genset rating.
  10. Record all parameters and values in the commissioning sheet.
  11. Once commissioning is accomplished, “SWITCH OFF” the Genset Breaker.
  12. when Genset Circuit Breaker (GCB) is switched off, “SWITCH OFF’ Generator Set from Generator mounted control panel.
  13. Follow and practice the above commissioning procedure for all generators Set one by one.

SAFETY
