Scope
The scope of the written Method of Statement includes the Supply & Installation of Fire Alarm Spare parts. Responsibilities
- Ensure strict compliance with PTW and procedure.
- Deploy competent and certified staff.
- Conduct pre-job briefings/toolbox talk/Hazard Communication.
- Ensure proper coordination with plant supervisor/operator
- Ensure usage of correct tools and equipment.
- Ensure to keep away from other equipment or wires/cables not related to the job.
- Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
- The site Engineer will be managing the activities to execute the works as detailed in MOS with safe practice and procedure
- The performer must get the work permit approved before starting the work, and close the work permit after completion of the work
- The contractor should strictly follow plant rules and regulations while doing the job.
- The performer and Plant supervisor/Operator must discuss and understand the scope before proceeding with the job.
- Any damage to the plant property while doing the work will be fixed by the contractor on his expenses

- Provide all mandatory tools, equipment, and material needed at the worksite.
- Stop all unsafe work activities.
- Make sure that the availability of all required tools to intact a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with procedures concerning equipment and related certification and permits.
- Make sure that the workforce under his supervision completely understands the hazards and risks related to the Supply & Installation of Fire Alarm and is accountable to make sure that they work in a safe environment.
- The service technician, in attendance, must sign into the plant room, where applicable and make the site manager or site representative, aware of the works to be undertaken and the areas in which the worker wishes to work before commencing with any works.
- The site team must be aware of the worker about fire, health and safety and specific site requirements. As the workers will be working within unfamiliar buildings, they must also be made aware of the positions of fire alarm call points, fire evacuation assembly points, fire extinguishers or blankets and the nearest fire escape routes.
Site Supervisor
- The carrying out of work and the proper distribution of all the available resources in coordination with the Site Engineer daily.
- Daily reports of the works are executed and coordinated for future making plans with the Site Engineer.
- Incorporate all the QA/QC and Safety requirements as asked by the involved Engineer.
- Meeting with any type of unexpected incident or requirement and reporting the equal to the Site Engineer immediately.
- Should accumulate any vital civil works clearances and coordination.
- The identified HSEQ aspects and TBT are briefed to the working crew before the starting of the job and its HSE Officer/Representative shall be responsible for the safe execution of the above activities in strict compliance with approved MOS/TRA via:
- Control, supervise and record toolbox meetings.
- Ensure that all HSE requirements are met and implemented while executing the works.
Site Worker
- Maintenance of all materials associated with fire protection systems and in line with [main & sub-contractor]’s SOW
- Following approved checklists for service and maintenance of the assets.
- Handling of the site materials, accessories, tools and equipment.
- Capability and competency to carry out routine maintenance on equipment and decide when and what type of maintenance is required.
- Maintaining circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
- Performing other related activities as instructed by the Superior.
HSE Officer
- The implementation of all safety measures following the HSE plan and that the whole workforce is aware of its proper implementation.
- The implementation of safety measures is adequate to maintain a safe working environment during the maintenance activity.
- Inspection of all the site activities and training personnel in accident prevention and its proper reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
- Good housekeeping is kept all time.
- Make sure that well-trained and competent persons shall operate the electrical tools.
- Make sure that all involved in installation work personnel use PPE and all other items are required.
- Make sure that high-risk high areas are safeguarded are barricades, warning tape, safety arresters’ nets and provided with ladders.
- Make sure that all area openings provided are safeguarded properly.
Methodology
Installation of Fire Alarm devices
- Attend HSE Induction and Obtain PTW from plant operation. Conduct TBT and briefs on approved MOS/TRA to working crew. Awareness in COVID-19 prevention procedures.
- Coordinate with plant operators to identify the location and confirm the area and equipment to perform as per the scope of work.
- The devices/peripherals (Smoke detectors, heat detectors, break glass, duct detectors, beam detectors, control, and monitoring modules) are connected in a Class A circuit with the Control panels.
- 2-Core x 1.5mm2 Fire Alarm cable to be used for cabling the Initiating Device Circuits (IDC) to the panel, an additional 2 Core x 2.5mm2 Fire Alarm cable is required for the smoke detector with a sounder base for the activation of the sounder’s units.
- Before beginning the setup, confer with the accepted save drawings and coordination drawing of the state-of-the-art revision associated with the location of setting up and ensure the specified cloth is available on the site as per accepted cloth submittals.
- Ensure that the work vicinity is ready and safe to start the installation of Fire Alarm systems.

Installation of Fire Alarm devices

- Exposed conduits will be GI and parallel with or at proper angles to the constructing line, beams, or ceiling. For all adjustments in the course symmetrical bends or steel containers for use.
- Approved emergency lighting cabling i.e., FP200 shall be used.
- Wherever the emergency lighting cable passes through walls, floors, floor screeds, brick walls etc. a suitable sleeve shall be provided.
- Before terminating the cables, an insulation test shall be carried out.
- Uniform colour coding shall be sued throughout the installation.
- Connections to the terminals will be tightened to avoid any unfastened connections, and earth connection factors must be smooth to provide an awesome electric conductivity route.
- Ensure the installation of luminaries as in step with authorized shop drawings.
- Exit lighting fixtures shall be installed as per approved shop drawings on all break-out routes and their orientation should be perfect i.e., Must be seen from all aspects and exit course to be right.
- Install all protection luminaries to cover the risks and to find the protection equipment
- installed. Intersections with other corridors, change levels, staircases, fire alarm call points operation equipment and other life safety equipment will be done as per the approved shop drawings.
- All emergency lights having high-frequency ballasts will have a built-in or separate monitoring facility as approved already and a monitoring module to be installed and addressed before fixing the luminaires.
- All panels & systems shall be related and labelled according to authorized save drawings & schematic diagrams.
- Make positive that each metal system, add-ons & light fittings are properly earthed.
- Circuit info is to be furnished on the panel board.
- All devices to be levelled, aligned, and tightened well.
- After completion of work system sections and booths must be wiped clean to cast off any dust and different debris and so forth.

Quality Control & Assurance

- ORGANIZATION/COMPANY shall manage to:
- Identify the processes needed for achieving quality service and product as per client satisfaction and applicable standards.
- Determine the sequence and interaction of the execution processes, and determine the criteria and methods required to ensure the effective operation and control of these processes.
- Measure, monitor and analyze these processes by following the work and service plans.
- Identify QHSE hazards associated with its activities and plan for risk control.
- Established to maintain quality of the works following specification and standard.
- Materials to be inspected by Plant Supervisor/Operator after delivery to site.
- Works shall be inspected by the Plant Supervisor/operators at every stage.
- To ensure that quality is maintained, we will coordinate with the on-site team regularly.
- The plant Supervisor/operator and the Client’s representative shall inspect the materials and workmanship
- Approval by the supervisor or the operator in charge during the time of work will be accepted as sufficient evidence that arrangements for manufacture and quality comply with these requirements.
- Always inspect the job by supervisor/operators on each on every step of the work progress.
Health, Safety & Environment
Before commencing any work, the team shall strictly follow SITE’s Health & Safety recommendations for handling and use of the materials. Make sure that all work involved personnel shall be aware of the same. The general health safety technical and general guidelines are given below:
- Make sure the work area is safe & clean.
- All employees shall follow safe working practices at all times.
- Safety equipment PPE (Safety helmet, safety shoes, coveralls, gloves, goggles, face mask as applicable) to be always worn.
- When working at a high level, the essential and recommended safety harness shall be used and secured whilst working-extra care shall be practised whilst using handheld or power tools at a high level to safeguard and protect against dropping.
- Ensure sufficient lighting is available during testing.
- Report all near misses or incidents to the HSE Officer on duty.
- Appropriate and safe access for the worker and equipment shall be provided for the works.
- All equipment, devices and machinery shall be inspected and observed for maintenance records.
- Toolbox talks are to be conducted before the commencement of testing works.
- All employees working on the site shall be trained in PTW.
- Awareness of plant Emergency evacuation procedures.
- Inspect tools and ensure that they are free of defects.
- Ensure that appropriate tools are used for each activity.
- Ensure only Trained and Competent Workers are allowed to use power tools.
- Ensure strict compliance with PTW procedure.
- Deploy competent and certified staff.
- The work area shall be barricaded using safety Cones and Warning Tapes.
- Conduct pre-job briefings/toolbox talk/Hazard communication.
- Ensure the availability of First aid medicines and fire extinguishers nearby.
- HSE Standard Policies & Procedure to be followed.
- All personnel involved will use necessary PPE as required such as safety helmets, safety shoes, visible jackets, rubber gloves, glasses, earplugs etc.
